What we're about

2021 schedule to date: Zoom meetings are scheduled for 2:00 pm central time, approximately every six weeks. Invitations will go out a few weeks in advance of each of these dates, and members will have access to the Zoom link after RSVP'ing.

We will assess options for in-person sessions in the spring (soon, soon!), as the city of Chicago adjusts its regulations around group gatherings.

The theme for our end-of-year themed program will be composers from the Americas (North, Central, and South).

About CAPG: Since 2010, CAPG has offered opportunities for adult amateur pianists looking for a supportive experience performing classical piano in public. With the support of PianoForte, we are able to sustain this amazing group.

We have the chance to experience various high quality pianos (such as a 9' Yamaha CFX or Fazioli 7' grand piano) located at PianoForte's performance space, 1335 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago.

To be a member and to perform, you must be able to play comfortably at the level of Chopin Waltz, Bach Invention, and beyond, i.e., intermediate/advanced. If you would like to play at our meetups, we request that you contact the organizer (click on the Organizer link on our home page) and let her know which meetup you will be attending and what you would like to play. Following that meetup, we can accept you as a full member and you will receive all of our announcements. Members not intending to play and non-members who just want to enjoy the concert can attend our meetups at any time. We appreciate having an audience!

We can accommodate only 12-15 performers per meetup, at about 8 minutes per person; therefore, each spot is valuable. If you have RSVP'd to play, and need to cancel, please advise the organizers ASAP so they can add someone else to the program.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Happy New Year! Jan. 22, 2022 Meetup (later start time)

Piano Forte

Hello, Pianists,

As it turns out, PianoForte is bustling in January, so much so that we have experienced a slight conflict. As such, we need to start our joint PianoForte/CAPG New Year's Meet Up a bit later. Please note that the new start time will be 4:15 p.m. We hope this does not affect our RSVP list, but if you are NOT able to join us at our new time, please notify me ASAP (or go onto our Meetup page and change your RSVP to No).

As a reminder, because the criteria for each group differs slightly, this gathering will be a bit different for both groups. The forum will be open to players of all levels and genres of music (so not exclusively classical music). However, we will still maintain a formal program; participants will be expected to identify the specific piece(s) they will play and submit that information prior to the event. Allotted playing time will be strictly limited to 6-8 minutes.

Everything else remains the same for both groups: all attendees are expected to contribute $10 towards PianoForte and, of course, there will be ample refreshments at the conclusion of the event. Because there is no requirement of proof of vaccination, we err on the side of caution and still mandate wearing masks. As we want everyone to feel and be safe, this is NOT negotiable.

IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO, be sure to RSVP as soon as possible with your piece(s) and composer(s). PLEASE NOTE: If you are a member of both groups, you need only respond to ONE invitation. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Cheryl and Audra
