Please Do Not Send HTML Mail To The Chicago-C-C++-Users-Group

From: Jay F. S.
Sent on: Sunday, December 26, 2010 11:25 AM
I just received two e-mails in HTML format. These messages were not
from the Meetup Message Board, they were from individual in the group.
I see nothing customizable in the "Your Account" area of the Meetup
website that selects for HTML format, and, moreover, the mail that I
get from the Meetup Message Board is in proper plaintext format, so
I conclude that the HTML messages that I received were received in
that format because that is the format in which they were sent.

I then read those messages again, carefully, looking for reasons why
they were sent in HTML format. I did not see that they made extensive
use either of the hypertext, or of the markup, capabilities of HTML.

Why are you sending mail in HTML format, if you do not need to make
extensive use of either the hypertext or the markup capabilities of
that format? This is not a rhetorical question. I truly would like
to know.

If you have no good answer, then please show us the courtesy, in the
future, of sending your messages to this group in plaintext format.
Thank you in advance.
