Chan (Zen) Meditation Group Practice in Chicago

A chance to recharge and settle your mind in the middle of a work / school week.

Come join us on the cushion each Wednesday evening, to find a moment of refuge, quietude, and clarity.  We also set aside time after sitting to do some group sharing / Dharma-learning.  There is no cost to attend.  Wear loose and comfortable clothing, and know that shoes are not allowed in the sitting area.

Schedule:

6:15pm:  Door Opens*

6:30pm – 7:00pm :  Eight Form Moving Meditation**

7:00pm – 7:40pm : Sitting Meditation (30-minute, plus prep times)

7:40pm – 8:15pm : Group Discussion / Dharma Sharing

* Beginners are encouraged to arrive by 6:15pm to receive some basic instructions first.

** A slow moving meditation to stretch our bodies and begin to settle our mind.

See you there!

P.S. Our organization, Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association - Chicago Chapter,  is currently operating out of the northwest suburb, Mount Prospect.  But every Wednesday evening, we bring Chan Practice out into Chicago, in order to share the benefits with more people.  We are grateful to our sponsor, The Philip Nearing School of Wing Chun, for letting us use their space every week for this program!

Unfortunately I can not assist to the Wednesday meditation group due to my job. But I want to thank the Dharma Drum Mountain members for helping me to improve my Zazen. I hope in a near future to assist to an event in your center.

    Thanks again!

    Erik.
