CiviDay 2014, January CiviCRM Meetup

  • Jan 29, 2014 · 6:00 PM

Take note that we're in a different location than usual, we're looking forward to seeing you at 1871 (OCA Ventures Room)  (CiviDay PDF flyer)

CiviDay is a world-wide event with over 25 events across the globe. For CiviDay 2014 people who are considering starting out with CiviCRM can talk to real people who've been using CiviCRM, hear real life success stories, find out what support is available locally, and get inspired and energized about the possibilities. We will show prospective users how CiviCRM can help them. Since a lot of people are thinking about new projects in January, this is quite good timing.

Sponsored by Emphanos and Smart Chicago Collaborative.

Small but impressive group. I learned a lot about open source and CiviCRM.

Question was posed at the meetup how one can create Drupal User accounts for CiviCRM contacts. The best way is to use drush with a patch found here to send out account creation notification emails,

    drush user-create <username> --mail=<email> --password=<password> --notify="register-no-approval-required"

drush user-add-role "new user role" <email>

If there's no set agenda, I'd be happy to walk through my Civi site to get your ideas about how it might work better.

I would like to see this. I'm by no means a CiviCRM heavy user. I do have a local host install of CiviCRM using Drupal 7, been trying various things like using Views to list CiviCRM events, etc. Am interested in this sort of thing.

Thanks! The site has been 'in production' for about a year, but I still feel like I'm feeling my way around in the dark.
