The purpose of this group is to create fun, interactive gatherings around the topic of "conscious consumption". We host various events such as vegan tastings, zero waste watercolor workshops, clothing swaps, neighborhood clean ups, and so much more! The hope is to get people in the door through fun events and have them walk away with a new perspective on the impacts of human consumption.
Join us for our first kitchenwares swap! Grab any old plates, mugs, toasters, graters, pans, food processors, and whatever else hasn't been getting the use it deserves and trade it in for something new(ish)!
We've teamed up with the wonderful Amanda McLemore of Baguette & Butter to talk a bit about eating locally and reducing food waste through preserving! We'll sip some coffee, share tasty preserves by Amanda and fresh bread by Middlebrow's bakery while we talk about the various processes of preserving and planning ahead to keep fresh food from spoiling. Then we'll get to kitchenware swapping and go home with some fun new items to add to your own space!
Please show up on time to drop off swapping items. Reach out with any questions or clarification on qualified kitchenware (hint: anything clean and functionals) and as always, all events put on by me are entirely vegan and zero waste.
Saturday, August 24th we are kicking off our second neighborhood clean up with mission-driven yoga and meditation studio, Tiny Space to Breathe!
We will be meeting Backlot Coffee in Avondale at 10 am and will kick things off with a short guided mediation before we hit the streets.
** We will be grabbing trash with our fingers and washing hands after, BUT if you would like to be protected from litter cooties, please feel free to bring reusable gloves! We will supply buckets for carrying the trash as we walk. **
*Bring your own cup and Backlot will throw in some coffee for free!*
The event is totally free, but RSVP is mandatory to keep track of numbers and needed supplies.
We can't wait to see you!
