*****About the Workshop*****

Mollie will walk you through how to create your first D3.js scatter plot, complete with some fun interactions! This will be a beginner's workshop and no background knowledge of D3.js or javascript necessary.

"D3.js is a JavaScript library for manipulating documents based on data. D3 helps you bring data to life using HTML, SVG, and CSS. D3’s emphasis on web standards gives you the full capabilities of modern browsers without tying yourself to a proprietary framework, combining powerful visualization components and a data-driven approach to DOM manipulation." -

*****About the Speaker*****

Mollie Pettit wears many technical hats including that of a data visualizer, a data scientist, and an instructor of both fields. In her career, Mollie has worked on projects involving a wide variety of problems including but not limited to interactive data visualization, exploratory data analysis, corporate data tool creation, course development, instruction, and ideation. Mollie previously worked as a data visualization (D3.js) and data science instructor at Metis and a data scientist / consultant with Datascope Analytics. Mollie currently works as a freelancer. ACLU-IL and The New Yorker are just some of her recent clients. When Mollie is not being a technical nerd, she swing dances, listens to educational podcasts, and strives to be all-around fabulous. Additionally, as you all know, she's started up this Data Viz Meetup group (and is very excited about it!).
