We are hosting our first childcare & school fair on May 17th and are seeking about 8 volunteers to help with set up and registration from 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in the West Loop. We hope your group can help us out. Below are details about this free community event:
The West Loop Families is hosting the West Loop Families + Chicago Urban Family Childcare & School Fair on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 733 W. Madison, from 10am-1pm. Entrance and all activities are FREE and open to the public. Register at
Exhibitors will include public, private, charter, home schooling and alternative childcare providers, preschools and K-8 school options available to your child. Representatives from some of Chicago's top schools & enrichment programs will be available to share information, answer questions and offer guidance.
Grace Lee Sawin of Chicago School GPS will be a guest speaker, with a presentation that will educate families on the different educational philosophies and how to navigate researching, visiting and applying to schools. Michelle L. Siegman, LCSW, will discuss the curious topic that is The Kindergarten Screening Process. Children’s author, April D. Jordan, will hold readings of the charming children's picture book, Sweet Lily Pitter-Patter, What You Do Surely Matters.
Bring your kids to this event...we will have a Family Connections Play & Learn Station dedicated to fun family activities. Children of all ages, supervised by their parents, will enjoy creative, hands-on activities by Chicago Children’s Theatre, The Kids Table, Green Beginnings, Bennett Day School and more!
