Event Description:
Ice Skating, Snow Games and Hayrides, Oh My!
Emily Oaks Nature Center is gearing up for the annual Winter Chilly Fest! One Brickers are needed to staff outdoor activities, which include a variety of entertaining snow and ice games, ice skating on the pond, a marshmallow roast, and hay rides through the woods! Those volunteering will be guaranteed a magical winter event and a delicious chili dinner!

This event will be OUTDOORS, so please bring on your tough Chicago exterior and dress accordingly. Layers are your best friend, as are warm socks and shoes. And, don't worry, there will be warming breaks!

What we'll be doing:

Volunteers will help lead winter games and activities outdoors, like Snow Painting, Ice Car Derby, and Dress-the-Snowman. Assistance is also needed to serve dinner indoors and bus tables.
What you should know:

Volunteers are requested to park at our Park Services lot, which is within walking distance of Emily Oaks. The lot is at the end of Keating.

Please come dressed for the weather! Winter boots, warm socks, layers of clothing, snow pants, hats, scarves and gloves/mittens are all essential to being comfortable outdoors in winter and enjoying the event.
Where to Meet:

1st floor lobby of the Visitor Facility, Check in with Rich from One Brick.

Emily Oaks Nature Center-Skokie Park District:
Skokie's thirteen-acre savanna and nature center is an oasis full of native wildflowers, grasses, oak trees, a three-acre pond, and trails. Residing and visiting urban wildlife includes Great Blue Herons, Coyotes, Flying Squirrels, Northern Water Snakes, Red Foxes and Cooper's Hawks. The indoor nature center offers classes, meeting rooms and the interactive Woodland Wander Inn.

One Brick - Building Community Through Volunteering
Mission Statement
One Brick creates a community of volunteers by offering fun opportunities for individuals to serve local nonprofits. We provide a calendar of volunteer and social events to help people get involved, have an impact, and have fun, without the requirements of long term commitments.

About One Brick
One Brick is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (Federal ID:[masked]) that is a community of volunteers that support other local nonprofits by creating a friendly and social atmosphere around volunteering. After each volunteer event our volunteer team invites everyone to gather at a local restaurant or coffee shop where they can get to know one another in a relaxed social setting. Additionally we host regular social events for our volunteers to connect to one another and to welcome new volunteers to our community.
