- Help out a fellow volunteer
Hi, I am a Grad Student and I am trying to increase the number of Chicago's volunteers but I am at a lost because I do not know what motivates people. I wrote a brief 10 question survey and would love it if some of you could take it for me. This is really important to me because I find that often times NPOs do not know how to reach people who are likely to help them. I know that this is not the best use of your space but I know you all must have a lot of insight. I promise I will owe all of you for helping me out. Here is the link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/3PBDGSQ.

- PAWS Chicago Medical Help for over 100 kittens
Hi Everyone! So we all love animals, whether they are kittens, puppies or even horses and guess what!...it's kitten season here at Chicago again and the city pound and the local, private shelters are overrun with kittens! While majority of those sweet balls of fluff are bouncy and playful there are some sick ones that were unlucky enough to catch some horrible disease so early in their life! Thankfully there's a second chance for those kitties for growing up and joining somebody's family. A generous donor decided to create a Kippy Foundation in memory of her own cat, Kippy that will match 100% all of the donations up to $15k for medical treatment for homeless kittens! So please, this summer think about all those less lucky kittens who struggle at the time that should be filled with balls of yarn and catnip mice! You can donate any amount here: http://tinyurl.com/l4e82tq Every dollar counts just as every life does! Also if you are thinking about adding a little pet to your family visit either pawschicago.org or their adoption center at 1997 N. Clybourn Ave. that is full of cats and kittens, dogs and puppies ready to join you at this incredible journey that is life! You can also foster an animal that is still waiting for its chance to find his/her forever home and allow PAWS to rescue even more animals from euthanasia! Let's work together to make Chicago no-kill!

We are in need of volunteers to help us out with fundraising events or to help us at our Great Escapes family outings and activities. Below is a brief description of each opportunity. Fundraising Events: We hold fundraising events throughout the year and often use volunteers to sell raffle tickets, handle check-in, and help us make the events a great success. Events include our annual gala, happy hours, concerts, holiday sales, etc. Great Escapes: Our Great Escapes program offers Starlight children and their families the chance to enjoy fun outings. Volunteers may assist with planning, hosting, fundraising, and other services. - Hold a Toy Drive
Starlight Children’s Foundation Midwest partners with experts to improve the life and health of kids and families throughout the Midwest. Serving more than 330,000 critically ill children and their family members each year, we aim to serve even more of the 1 in 11 kids who need our services. Every holiday season, we send hundreds of toys and books to hospitalized children. This helps make a huge difference in the lives of hospitalized children. These toys and books make hospitalizations easier, put smiles on all their faces, and distract them from their routine of doctor visits. Starlight is looking for individuals and groups from now until the end of the year to help organize toy drives. We are looking for people to donate brand new/unused toys and books that are appropriate for children and teens between the ages of 0-18. So if you are looking to get involved, gather your friends, family, and coworkers to help Starlight this holiday season. For more information, please email Volunteer Program Intern, Erica Vera, at: [masked].
- Starlight Weekend Volunteers
Starlight Children’s Foundation Midwest is searching for individuals who wish to join our weekend volunteer team as we continually work to brighten the lives of critically and chronically ill children and their families. Our family outings program, called Great Escapes, offers Starlight children and their family members the chance to enjoy fun activities and adventures. These exciting outings include: group bowling, roller skating, Starlight Prom, Odyssey Cruise, visiting the Lincoln Park Zoo and much, much more! We are looking for volunteers to assist with planning, hosting, fundraising, and performing other tasks in support of Great Escapes. Starlight Great Escapes generally take place 3-4 weekends a month, so if you are looking to do some weekend volunteer work, this would be a great opportunity for you! To get involved, please contact Volunteer Program Intern, Erica Vera, at: [masked].
- Event Planning Volunteers for Michigan and Indiana
Starlight Children’s Foundation Midwest is in need of dedicated volunteers looking to assist in event planning for events taking place in Indianapolis, Indiana and Grand Rapids, Michigan. Volunteers will support Starlight’s Great Escape program in these locations, bringing fun outings and activities to Starlight kids and families in those cities. Volunteers will work closely with our Program Coordinator and will assist in executing the WHOLE event from start to finish. This includes getting event ideas, creating a calendar of events for the year, researching costs, attending and volunteering at the event in either Indianapolis or Grand Rapids. Attending the event at one of these remote locations is required. Starlight works to brighten the lives of critically and chronically ill children and their family members, so by helping to make Starlight events a success, you will help to put a smile on hundreds of children across the Midwest. This is a great opportunity to meet Starlight children and their families as they enjoy the exciting events that you help put together! We are always looking for individuals who are passionate about helping others in need. To get involved, please contact Volunteer Program Intern, Erica Vera, at: [masked].
