Open Improv Practice Session with Kevin Mullaney

Join us for a fun Thursday evening coaching session at the new Under The Gun Theater Rehearsal Studio in Wrigleyville. After some quick warmups to energize and focus us, we will several exercises which work on different aspects of improvised scenework. This is workshop for beginning or intermediate improvisors.

Tonight's Focus: Establishing a Base Reality

We will be doing exercises from or inspired by the new book: The Upright Citizens Brigade: Comedy Improvisation Manual. This book outlines and explains in detail their approach to improvised scenework and the Game of the Scene. The first step to a great game is establishing a base reality through yes-anding. That's what we will be working on tonight.

This coaching session will be run by Kevin Mullaney. Kevin is the Artistic Director of Under The Gun Theater and the Chicago Improv Festival with 20 years experiencing coaching and teaching improv. He has taught at iO, UCB Theatre in NYC and Second City in Chicago. He is the host of the IRC Improv Podcast and teaches independently in Chicago.

If you sign up on or before September 12th you will get an early bird discount. It will only cost $10. If you sign up after September 12th, the cost is $15.
