I am happy to offer a workshop about one of the three modes of Nonviolent Communication, Self-Empathy:
Empowerment: From Self-Criticism and Confusion to Self-Understanding and Clarity
June 29, 9 am - 3:30 pm
Relationships, personal and professional, are fraught with frustration and pain. We have learned to use anger, demands, threats, and confrontation in an attempt to meet our needs. When our needs are not met we become critical of ourselves or others. Sadly, such strategies tend to drive us further apart. Empowering Communication offers a life-giving alternative.
In this workshop you will learn three powerful and unique processes of Self-Empathy. Self-Empathy helps us gain self-understanding, invites us to prepare for dialogue, and supports transforming anger, guilt, and shame by understanding needs.
Thich Nhat Hanh captures the power of Self-Empathy:
“When you understand the roots of anger in yourself and in the other, your mind will enjoy true peace, joy, and lightness. You become the doctor who heals himself and heals the other. When you feel hurt but do not hurt the other, you are truly victorious. Your practice and your victory benefit both of you.”
