As part of their Sunday Open Hours Series, The Dorchester Projects' Archive House has invited us to host a literary social on August 25th. From 4pm - 6pm, you can browse a selection of Chicago Reading Africa’s library, listen to some African tunes from Dr. Wax’s music collection & mix and mingle with other book lovers. The afternoon will also feature readings from friends and members of Chicago Reading Africa: YAW, Katelyn Carlson, Julie Iromuanya, Odinaka Ezeokoli, and Nina Yeboah. Bring a book to swap or discuss with a new friend!
If you've come with us to Black Cinema House, the litJam! will be hosted right across the street at the Archive House. For more info on Black Cinema House, the Archive House, and the Dorchester Project as a whole, visit The Rebuild Foundation.
If you'd like to invite friends who aren't on Meetup, send them to our Eventbrite page (click here).
Also check out these two African films being screened at Black Cinema House this August: Kukurantumi & Soul Boy. I'll be posting more Around Town events in the Discussion Section of this Meetup and in the Special Events Newsletter coming out August 1st.
And as always, keep up with wider conversations about African literature (& more) by following our tumblr.
