Audiobooks are booming! You hear this everywhere these days. But what does it mean for independent publishers?
Join us at Capital One 360 Cafe (http://www.capitalone360.com/cafes/chicago-goldcoast/) in the Gold Coast as Judith West, an audiobook professional for over 15 years, provides an insider's overview of today’s audio publishing landscape and addresses your specific interests about this dynamic aspect of the contemporary publishing, including:
· Who’s buying audiobooks?
· Where do you distribute and sell them?
· How do you market them?
· Should you have one?
And perhaps most mysteriously, . . .
How do you create an audio version of your book?
Cafe 360 is two blocks north of the Chicago Red Line Station, and the #36, #22, and Michigan Avenue buses stop nearby. There is street parking in the area, as well as parking garages.
The cafe is open until 2pm, so feel free to stay until then to continue the conversation.
Judith West has amused, informed, thrilled, and otherwise entertained via stage and studio for more than 25 years. A narrator, producer-director, and writer for audiobooks since 1999, she also coaches narrators and has taught performance and directed at leading Chicago universities. She’s enjoyed extensive experience in print publishing as well, as a writer, editor, and researcher, notably with Encyclopaedia Britannica. Her multiple careers emerged from what she affectionately calls her “two degrees in Reading Aloud” (B.A. & M.A. in Literary Performance/Oral Interpretation) — a blended discipline also visible in the creation (with narrator Heather Henderson) of AudioEloquence.com, the audiobook industry’s pronunciation resource.
