No matter how you choose to publish your book, author branding and platform building are critically important to your marketing plan. In this interactive and practical presentation, author and writing coach Sara Connell ( will explain the difference between author branding and author platform, and why you need both. She’ll share five steps you can take to:

• Supercharge your author platform

• Exponentially increase your visibility

• Engage readers before and after your book enters the marketplace

After the meeting, we'll walk down to Dunlay's on Clark (2600 N Clark Street) for self-pay food and drinks to continue the discussion. All attendees are welcome to join us.

Speaker bio:

Sara Connell ( is an author and writing coach with a private practice in Chicago. She has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Good Morning America, The View, FOX Chicago, NPR, and Katie Couric. She received the Judith Dawn Memorial Grant for fiction and has presented at Northwestern University, Printer’s Row Literary Festival, Open Books and teaches regularly at Story Studio Chicago. Her writing has appeared in: The New York Times, Good Housekeeping, Parenting, BabyTalk, Mindful Metropolis, Psychobabble and Evolving Your Spirit.Her first book Bringing In Finn was nominated for ELLE magazine Book of the Year.
