Follow-up and handout from February 7 meetup on small press publishing

Hello Everyone!

We would like to welcome our new members and thank our existing members for their continued support of the group. Our group has doubled in size in the past few months, which tells us that people's interest in self-publishing and indie publishing will continue to grow.

We appreciate everyone who braved the rush hour snowstorm to join us on Thursday evening for our presentation on small press publishing. A special thank you goes out to our speaker, Milwaukee-based publisher and publishing consultant Sharon Woodhouse of Lake Claremont Press and Everything Goes Media, for making the journey to Chicago and sharing her valuable time and expertise with us.

Sharon provided us with a detailed handout that includes an author checklist, tips on book marketing, how to find the right small press publisher, and more. Her PDF handout is available on the Chicago Self-Publishing site -- click here to download it:.

Sharon was complimentary of our group and the book concepts people presented at Thursday's meeting, and she has generously offered to reply with customized publishing advice if anyone from the group wants to email her at sharon at everythinggoesmedia dot com.

We'll hold our next meeting on Thursday, March 7, and we're bringing in a fantastic Chicago book designer to talk to us about the importance of good book design, how to find and work with a book designer, what to look for and how much you should expect to pay, and much more. Stay tuned for details!
