Chicago Skepticamp 2013

RSVPing Clarification! If you've only RSVP'd on the Meetup or Facebook sites, we'd really appreciate you also RSVPing on the Eventbrite site at http://chicagoskepticamp2013.eventbrite.com/

What is Chicago Skepticamp?

It’s a daylong mini conference where we learn about science, critical thinking and scientific skepticism from our community’s greatest resource: each other!

We encourage both new and veteran presenters to step up to the podium.

Last year, we heard talks on tricky statistics, the fountain of youth, astrobiology, plain old Earth biology (and how some people don’t believe in it), and many other topics! Learn more.

I have an idea for a talk!

We’ve finalized the speaker list now, but attend this year and think about what you'd like to do for next year.

Cost

ZERO DOLLARS. You can’t put a price on learning new things, so Chicago Skepticamp is a completely free event.

Ken, because you asked here's the link to the full visual guide to cognitive biases. And it's only 2 days late - http://www.scribd.com/doc/30548590/Cognitive-Biases-A-Visual-Study-Guide

For those who don't know...the bolingbrook babbler is a satire of a tabloid. We don't have any idea if we were the biggest skepticamp, nor does that matter...it was filled with awesome!

Blown away by the great talks, the fun casual conversations, the volunteers' willingness to jump in and take ownership of needs, just everything! Thanks to all the speakers, attendees, and volunteers/coordinators!

Sometimes there are very well intended comments that cross the line to uncomfortable for some folks. We delete posts rarely, but it happens.

For those who want to help...set-up seems covered, but we'll need help through the day, so when you get to the event, let us know you want to help. And @Andrew...you can come at 9, but can't give you something to do much earlier :)

Already RSVP'd via Chicago Freethinkers Meetup group and registered on the Eventbrite site. Am able to offer a ride from NW Suburbs, but will go early to volunteer. :)

Hello! So myself and Chana, another one of the speakers, are both coming from Hyde Park. It looks like it's not terrible to get to the Center via public transit, but if someone is coming from there and wouldn't mind giving us a ride, that would be awesome. Thanks.
