The Chicago Spanish Language Meetup Group

Estás invitado a un grupo de habla español. Aquí no se juzga, es bienvenido/a el que sea nativo/a o al que este recién empezando. Lo único que te pedimos es que hagas un esfuerzo ya que es primordial que español sea el idioma que se esté utilizando. Nos veremos en el Unity Center ubicado en 3339 s Halsted. Trae tu propia bebida (BYOB), trae tu propia comida si quieres. Hay varios restaurantes donde se puede comprar comida para traer. Hay estacionamiento de paga sobre la Halsted o puedes encontrar estacionamiento gratis en una calle residencial.

You are invited to a Spanish speaking group. There is no judgment here, you are welcome to join if you are a native speaker or if you are just starting out. The only thing we ask is that you make an effort, as it is essential that Spanish is the language being used. We will meet at the Unity Center located at 3339 s Halsted. Bring your own beverage (BYOB), bring your own food. There are several restaurants where you can purchase food to bring. There is paid parking on Halsted or you can find free parking on a residential street.

• What we'll do
Hello everybody.
El Pecado Mexican Restaurant is the place where the pursuit to satisfy your eating desires will lastly find its final destination. It is hidden low key restaurant located in the heart of the Rogers Park Neighborhood.
Potentially we will be having this north side Spanish meetup weekly or at least twice at month. The main purpose of this meetup is to create the proper environment for people to practice Spanish. An environment that can also provide us with tasty Mexican food and the possibility of loosing up our tongues with its BYOB policy. We might be seating on the back patio weather permitted.
We will have room for everybody, Spanish speaker and students of all levels are welcome. If you are planning to attend please RSVP in order for us to secure enough tables/chairs for everybody. Staff at the restaurant have agreed to issue us separate checks.
The closest public transportation options are the Morse Red Line stop, the 22 Clark Street bus, or the Rogers Park Metra stop. There is also metered street parking.

• What to bring
Since the restaurant has nicely agreed to provide the space please make sure to tip the waiter as each one of us pay our bills and of course, don't forget " trae tu propia botella" if you want to have extra fun.

• Important to know

Join us for a kid’s Spanish meetup at McKinley Park playground (2210 w Pershing rd.) on Saturday, April 27th from 3-4:30 p.m. The ideal age range for the meetup is 2-8 years old, however younger/older siblings are welcome. Ideally, your children should already know how to speak or understand Spanish and will not receive a Spanish lesson while here. It is just a regular park playdate, but in Spanish. This is ideal for kids that need to practice their Spanish speaking skills. A Spanish speaking parent/caregiver is expected to stay at the playdate and will hopefully be socializing (in Spanish) with other parents/caregivers, but are also there to offer friendly reminders to the kids to speak in Spanish. The meetup will be rescheduled if weather does not permit.

Acompáñanos a un encuentro de español para niños en los juegos de McKinley Park (2210 w Pershing rd.) el sábado 27 de abril de 3-4:30pm. La edad ideal para el encuentro es de 2 a 8 años, sin embargo hermanos menores o mayores son bienvenidos. Lo ideal es que sus hijos ya sepan hablar español y no recibirán una lección de español mientras estén aquí. Se trata de una reunión normal en el parque, pero en español. Esto es para niños que necesitan practicar su español. Se espera que un padre/cuidador permanezca en la cita de juego y socialice (en español) con otros padres/cuidadores, pero también estará allí para ofrecer recordatorios a los niños para que hablen en español. El encuentro será reprogramado si el clima no permite su función.
