Driving traffic to and marketing your WordPress site

You have a WordPress site. Great! You started writing on your blog to drive traffic. Excellent! Now, why am I not making money with my site? Oh!

For those of you who have a WordPress site, and want to monetize it this is the basics to help you get started. Stop freaking out over not having any business, and start learning the correct way to convert the traffic you have coming to your site. In this month’s WordPress meetup we will discuss:

• How to use WordPress to build your prospect list
• How to connect with referral partners on your site
• How to create call to actions that work on your blog

This overview will cover the basics to convert your blogging from hobby to profession.

Our own Andy Nathan, author of eMarketing Experience: Turning Old-Fashioned Marketing Into New Online Profits will be presenting.

As always, we start at 6 with a meet and greet and there is always someone available if you have a specific question on your site. The presentation begins at 7.

You are welcome to bring your laptop, but bringing a hotspot and a fully charged battery is recommended. The Holiday Club router and plugs are very limited.

James or any one in Drupal land. Here's another Drupal opportunity just posted in Chicago Web Pros. discussion board:

Picked up some pointers that I hope to apply when I'm more proficient in WordPress.

Andy provided good insight into the environment surrounding a WP site (blog). I especially appreciated the insight into Google+

First a delayed train, now we are going backwards... Don't think I am ever going to make this meetup...

I'm currently undecided since I need to learn more about what monetization info will be available.

I'd also like to recommend watching out WordCamp Chicago speaker Gene Hammett's presentation, "Building Revenue Streams on WordPress." You can find it on WordPress.tv or his own Facebook page. Basically it's the same presentation he gave in Chicago recently, and I now work with him as my business coach.

So, wondering if I should send my wife to this. I am maintaining the website, but since this is for her small business, she is obviously more of the strategy person...

Will this be very technical? Lots of widgets and how to? or more of a strategy/marketing thing?

I'd lend you one of my kids, but they're both away at school... You've got time, find a sitter, make an evening of it!

Ed, treat your wife to a great burger @ Holiday Club and both join us.
