Theme development is really about creating 2 sites in WordPress. The front end for the visitor, the dashboard for the owner/editor. You can throw a lot of raw code into the editor to create a custom layout, but then only someone who understands that code can edit things down the road without breaking things in the visual editor.
Instead, let's consider our editors and let's create templates and post types with custom fields, so that adding a new page with the same layout or editing the home page with 10 different sections becomes easy for the editor.
We'll explore what template pages, custom post types and custom fields are, different ways to create them and all the magical things that the Advanced Custom Fields plugin let's us do.
As always, the doors at the Holiday Club open at 6. We use the 1st hour for networking, ordering and helping each other. The presentation will begin at 7 pm.
