Camping/Hiking Weekend at Starved Rock State Park
This is going to be a great weekend. We will be hiking Starved Rock as well as Matthiessen over the weekend.
We will be staying in individual sites at Starved Rock State Park. They have showers, flush toilets and electricity. You will need to book your own site. The cost is about $25 per night. You can have 4 people, 2 tents, and 2 cars per site.

Starved Rock State Park is about an 1 1/2 hour drive from Chicago.
Average temperature for this time of year is a high of 58 and a low of 41. These site have electricity. You may want to bring a space heater. (Cool Touch with tip over protection. Don't forget a 15 amp extension cord.)
We will be having a potluck on Saturday Night. Please bring a dish to pass. You are on your own for all meals, snacks and beverages. Alcohol is not allowed in the campgrounds.
I normally make pancakes in the morning. There are usually plenty for everyone.
Friday Night: Arrive, setup, hang out by the fire.

Saturday Evening Hike (5:00) Matthiessen (Dells Area) 3 miles
Saturday Evening Potluck: (7:30)
Saturday Night: Hang out by the fire. (S’mores, Banana Boats)
Sunday Morning Breakfast. (9:00)
Sunday Morning Hike (10:00) Illinois to Tonti. 6 miles
Pack up and head for home. Check out time 3:00.
