Precious: Based on the book ‘Push’ by Sapphire

I've been waiting for months for this movie ever since I saw its trailer on Youtube. Synopsis:
Set in Harlem in 1987, Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire is the story of a 16-year-old African American girl born into a life no one would want. Claireece “Precious” Jones (Gabourey Sidibe) is pregnant for the second time by her absent father. At home, she must wait hand and foot on her abusive and poisonously angry mother (Mo’Nique). School is a place of chaos, and Precious has reached the ninth grade with an awful secret: She can neither read nor write. Precious may sometimes be down, but she is never out. Winner of three awards at Sundance, Precious is a vibrant, honest and resoundingly hopeful film about the human capacity to grow and overcome.

Produced by Oprah, Tyler Perry, Judge Mathis - need I say more.

Running Time: 1 hr. 49 min.
Release Date: November 6th, 2009 (limited)
MPAA Rating: R for child abuse including sexual assault, and pervasive language.

Parking:I love this theater because there is ample parking on the street and paid parking at the theater is only $2.

Public Transportation:

This theater is close to several bus lines. The Diversey, Fullerton, and Western Avenue buses all stop within one block of the theater. Closest train station is the blue line Western Ave stop or Diversey brown line. Go to yourcta.com for door-to-door directions.

WARNING: This is not a child friendly movie so adults only please.

Great meetup. SC was easy to find and was very organized for a larger group. A few of us went for a meal afterwards and had a nice chat -- it was a nice way to spend the afternoon/evening.
