Java EE 8 and Java 9 are both under active development, and there are many areas in which the community can contribute. Adopt-a-JSR is a grassroots initiative developed by JUG leaders to encourage JUG members to get involved in a JSR. The CJUG has adopted JSR 366: Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 8 (Java EE 8 Specification, and we plan to help make a difference in the future of Java EE! We are also becoming actively involved with the OpenJDK project, and furthering our involvement by working on OpenJDK initiatives in this session.
In this ONLINE ONLY session, we will first provide an overview of all developments that occurred at JavaOne 2016. After that we will contribute to the future of Java and Java EE by digging into the details for one or more of the Java EE 8 JSRs. Specifically focusing on on JSON-B. We'll also be hacking the weak modules on the early access release of Java 9, discussing issues, and possibly providing documentation, feedback, or code!
