Full Moon Fire Jam and Drum Circle

Come out and enjoy the Full Moon Festival Fire Jam! This exciting free monthly
event is held from 6p-10p at the lakefront near Foster Ave Park 5050 N. Simonds Dr. Simonds Dr. is the street east of Lakeshore Dr.,between Lawrence Ave(4800 N. Lakeshore Dr) & Foster Ave(5200 N. Lakeshore Dr), on the grass on the west side of the street. 2 blocks south of the beach. Look for the big field south of the soccer goals. The Pyrotechnic Group ropes off the exact performance area around 6:30p

FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS, DO NOT USE A GPS( for some reason it directs people to Montrose Beach, 4400 N. Lakeshore Dr- much too far south)

Limited free street parking on Simonds Dr. available, or a metered pay lot at Foster.

The entertainment consists of a group of Fire Dancers and Percussionists. Anybody that brings an instrument can join in! Women and men dance and spin, juggle, or hula hoop with fire to tribal drumbeats played by percussionists. Performance starts at sunset(around 7:30p). Bring picnic foods that are already prepared(sandwiches, chips, salads, chicken, fruit, dessert, etc.)

It's fun for people of all ages, and is family friendly. Alcohol is discouraged, glass bottles are not allowed(so bring your favorite "adult" beverages in an unmarked water, pop, or juice bottle). We will be near the Enjoy Life Chicago! Black Professionals, but we will not be with them. We will be joined by  The Chicago Intercultural and Interracial Explorers, and The Chicago Black Professionals Social Network. I will have a white table with Meetup signs on it. Also look for a black fishing pole with a windsock flying from it. Bring a jacket since it may get cool by the lake at night. Bring a lawn chair if you like, or a blanket to sit on. I will have a couple of extra chairs, but that will be first come , first served! And you might want to bring some bug repellant to keep those pesky mosquitoes at bay!

Please call or text me if you can't find the group. My number is[masked]-9639. In case of inclement weather, this event may be cancelled and rescheduled next month. Check their facebook page and call or text if conditions seem questionable:

I hope to see you out there!
