ChicagoRuby: Elmhurst - How Do I Build... ?

The "How Do I Build...?" format is somewhere between a hack night and a presentation.

The key question: "How do I build [X] in Ruby or Rails?" We might talk about the best shopping cart or calendar or whatever for Rails. We might talk about the best way to do database maintenance with Ruby, or the best tools for organizing Ruby or Rails development.

Every ChicagoRuby member is invited to drive. Let the group know what you want to do, what you've tried, and what would be interesting to you. Let's put our heads together and create!

Lunch After the Meeting
After most meetings, we go to lunch at the Elmhurst Restaurant, roughly two blocks NW of the meeting venue. Address: 441 West Lake Street, Elmhurst, IL 60126. Join us!

Started out with Justin Love giving a great detailed demo on Git version control and the free Github hosting service. We all use it.
Marty Lavin gave a demo on the faker gem. Faker generates fake data for application testing. The amusing Corporate.bs field name sounded like some of the silly mission statements created by American companies.
The very interesting Active Admin Gem (creates business style web pages/interfaces) was introduced. Finally, we went to the Elmhurst Family Restaurant for lunch and more tech talk.

Hey Sterling, sorry to hear about the leg. Get well! While you're recovering, you may be happy to know that the video from your lightning talk came out well (yours starts at about :55:00): http://www.chicagorub...
