Welcome to another edition of ChicagoRuby Downtown! We are doing a special event this month with a special guest host, Civis Analytics!

For this session, Leanne Miller and John Kerkstra of Civis are presenting their talk, "Kubectl Apply Rails Monolith --help"

Over the past few years, Kubernetes has become a prominent piece of Civis Analytics infrastructure. In this talk, we'll talk about how we are containerizing our Rails monolith and deploying it onto Kubernetes. We'll discuss our rationale for making the move, our previous set up, and the technical decisions we made.

6:00 to 6:15 - Food & Mingling
6:15 to 7:45 - Presentation
after - Hang around and network

Leanne Miller is a Software Engineer at Civis Analytics. She is the resident Book Club Tzar and is particularly fond of tea. Her work at Civis has focused creating a robust way for users to deploy custom applications on Kubernetes.

John Kerkstra aka Kerk is a Senior DevOps Engineer. He’s an infrastructure as code practitioner and avid bicyclist. He maintains two lovable cats: Battlecat and Voodoo.
