Post-Presidents Day Vegan Buffet
Please read the event description to the end before RSVPing. Join us for hearty, cold-weather vegan Mexican dishes to enjoy the post-holiday weekend! Newly organized Yvolina's regularly offers 21 different vegetarian tamales, 13 of which are vegan; one is corn-free. An additional six are dessert tamales. The restaurant, usually closed on the weekend, will provide long tables, new booths, etc, so that we can sit down together after standing in a buffet style line in the middle of the shop. Our menu will be served in the following order: Pozole: Soup/stew with corn, chick peas, lentils, cabbage, and radishes. Entrees: Guacamole, chips, salsa, moles(red or green), cauliflower ceviche salad, lentils and quinoa. Dinner: Two corn-husk wrapped tamales (kale, chili beans or squash poblano) with mole or salsa, small salad (including fruit) and yellow Mexican rice. Beverages: Kale mango or lemonade. Dessert Tamal: Guava or chocolate-peanut butter. The entire dinner is only $12/person CASH ONLY + optional tip (in tip vase). Various vegan moles and popular larger vegan tamales wrapped in banana leaves will be for sale to take home. If you want a special flavor tamale to take home, indicate in the "Comments" section by February 17. A separate vendor will sell vegan coffee. Seating is limited - You must RSVP to attend. See RSVP policy below. RSVP policy: Yvolina's Tamales will be making food according the number of attendees we provide. If you RSVP for the event, you agree that you will be responsible for the payment(s) whether you come or not unless you cancel your RSVP at least 48 hours before the event. Anyone who is on the RSVP list (or who canceled less than 48 hours before the event) will be responsible for the payment(s), payable within two weeks after the event. (The event organizers will contact you). Adequate parking is on the street. Any question or comments? Car-pooling arrangements? Please use "Comments" section on the event page.

Welcome to ChicagoVeg – Chicagoland Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw Foodist Community.

ChicagoVeg is the largest Chicagoland community for vegetarians, vegans, and raw foodists to socialize and meet like-minded people. We organize a range of fun activities and educational events in the city and the suburbs. Whether you are vegan or not vegan, we welcome everyone who is interested in a vegan/vegetarian/raw lifestyle for any reason - ethical, environmental, health, or spiritual. We support a nonjudgmental community where everyone can feel welcome to express their opinions, socialize, and have fun! Some of the fun activities include the following: exchanging vegan recipes (raw and not raw), vegan food potlucks, dining out at local vegetarian/vegan/raw restaurants, lectures pertaining to the vegetarian/vegan/raw lifestyle, and outreach events that promote a vegan lifestyle. We see the importance of educating others about advantages of veganism/vegetarianism, and we believe that a continuous education and supportive community are vitally important to sustain a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle.

Join us for delicious raw food/vegan/vegetarian meals, share your favorite recipes, discuss living a healthy vegetarian/vegan/raw food lifestyle, support green/eco living, and make new friends!

Everyone is welcome, from the vegetarian/vegan/raw food-curious to the 100% vegetarian/vegan/vegan-raw-foodists.

In addition to our monthly events, ChicagoVeg is also the lead organizer of the Chicago Veggie Pride Parade (CVPP). The goal of the parade is "Celebrating the Vegan/Vegetarian Lifestyle!" Featuring guest speakers, a costume contest, and tons of fun, CVPP is a wonderful all-encompassing event to support local vegans and vegetarians, as well as to raise awareness in the general public about the benefits of a plant-based diet. We encourage everyone, vegans or not vegans, to come and walk, socialize, learn, and of course celebrate the Vegan/Vegetarian lifestyle with us!
