Turkey-Free Thanksgiving: Potluck, Mingling, & Prizes!
---> PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE EVENT DESCRIPTION <--- Join us for our annual ChicagoVeg Thanksgiving event! Last year Thanksgiving potluck-style diner was loved by everyone. It's an opportunity to try a variety of unique dishes, save money, and being creative! This year we will do it again! WHAT WE WILL PROVIDE: • Space for the potluck (we will try to have as many tables and chairs as possible). • Desserts donated by the event sponsors. • Raffle prizes (Send a message via if you would like to donate extra prizes). • Some extra paper plates, plastic cups, plastic "silverware", paper towels WHAT TO BRING: • Beverages to drink/dish to share. It can be homemade or purchased (as long as you know all ingredients to list them next to your dish). Must be vegan. Please spend $10+ for your dish. • Serving utensils for your dish • A list of the ingredients for your dish (in case some people may have allergies or special diets). • Although we will supply them, we encourage you to bring your own plates/bowls/cups/utensils (to be more eco-friendly) • Some cash to donate • The expectation to have a great time! LOCATION: • We will be on the third floor in John Baran Hall of the Center on Halsted which is located in the same building with WholeFoods (a great opportunity to grab something to bring for a potluck in case you did not have time to make anything). • There is parking on the streets and paid public garages around. WholeFoods parking in the building does not accommodate the Center on Halsted's guests. Bike, public transportation or car-pooling might be a good idea. Please send a message via for your business to sponsor the event. TIME TABLE: • 5:30 - Volunteers arrive to setup the space. (Please send a message via if you would like to help!) • 6:00 - Check-in & Socializing begins. Please don't be late! • 6:30 - Dining starts. • 8:00 - Raffle Prizes Announcements. • 8:30 - Event ends. Clean up. • 9:00 - The center is closed. COST: • Entrance: $5 (Cash only please). Kids (under 10): Free. • Please bring extra cash to buy raffle tickets (one raffle ticket for every additional dollar donated). All donated money will go toward Pro-Vegan Billboard project. Welcome to ChicagoVeg – Chicagoland Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw Foodist Community.

ChicagoVeg is the largest Chicagoland community for vegetarians, vegans, and raw foodists to socialize and meet like-minded people. We organize a range of fun activities and educational events in the city and the suburbs. Whether you are vegan or not vegan, we welcome everyone who is interested in a vegan/vegetarian/raw lifestyle for any reason - ethical, environmental, health, or spiritual. We support a nonjudgmental community where everyone can feel welcome to express their opinions, socialize, and have fun! Some of the fun activities include the following: exchanging vegan recipes (raw and not raw), vegan food potlucks, dining out at local vegetarian/vegan/raw restaurants, lectures pertaining to the vegetarian/vegan/raw lifestyle, and outreach events that promote a vegan lifestyle. We see the importance of educating others about advantages of veganism/vegetarianism, and we believe that a continuous education and supportive community are vitally important to sustain a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle.

Join us for delicious raw food/vegan/vegetarian meals, share your favorite recipes, discuss living a healthy vegetarian/vegan/raw food lifestyle, support green/eco living, and make new friends!

Everyone is welcome, from the vegetarian/vegan/raw food-curious to the 100% vegetarian/vegan/vegan-raw-foodists.

In addition to our monthly events, ChicagoVeg is also the lead organizer of the Chicago Veggie Pride Parade (CVPP). The goal of the parade is "Celebrating the Vegan/Vegetarian Lifestyle!" Featuring guest speakers, a costume contest, and tons of fun, CVPP is a wonderful all-encompassing event to support local vegans and vegetarians, as well as to raise awareness in the general public about the benefits of a plant-based diet. We encourage everyone, vegans or not vegans, to come and walk, socialize, learn, and of course celebrate the Vegan/Vegetarian lifestyle with us!
