Welcome to ChicagoVeg – Chicagoland Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw Foodist Community.

ChicagoVeg is the largest Chicagoland community for vegetarians, vegans, and raw foodists to socialize and meet like-minded people. We organize a range of fun activities and educational events in the city and the suburbs. Whether you are vegan or not vegan, we welcome everyone who is interested in a vegan/vegetarian/raw lifestyle for any reason - ethical, environmental, health, or spiritual. We support a nonjudgmental community where everyone can feel welcome to express their opinions, socialize, and have fun! Some of the fun activities include the following: exchanging vegan recipes (raw and not raw), vegan food potlucks, dining out at local vegetarian/vegan/raw restaurants, lectures pertaining to the vegetarian/vegan/raw lifestyle, and outreach events that promote a vegan lifestyle. We see the importance of educating others about advantages of veganism/vegetarianism, and we believe that a continuous education and supportive community are vitally important to sustain a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle.


Join us for delicious raw food/vegan/vegetarian meals, share your favorite recipes, discuss living a healthy vegetarian/vegan/raw food lifestyle, support green/eco living, and make new friends!

Everyone is welcome, from the vegetarian/vegan/raw food-curious to the 100% vegetarian/vegan/vegan-raw-foodists.

In addition to our monthly events, ChicagoVeg is also the lead organizer of the Chicago Veggie Pride Parade (CVPP). The goal of the parade is "Celebrating the Vegan/Vegetarian Lifestyle!" Featuring guest speakers, a costume contest, and tons of fun, CVPP is a wonderful all-encompassing event to support local vegans and vegetarians, as well as to raise awareness in the general public about the benefits of a plant-based diet. We encourage everyone, vegans or not vegans, to come and walk, socialize, learn, and of course celebrate the Vegan/Vegetarian lifestyle with us!

Vegan Lunch Potluck Social and Cooking Demo: "Favorite Super Bowl Eats!"

It's time to have another potluck to meet some old and new veg*n friends, and New Year is a perfect occasion for it! WHAT TO BRING: • A beverage/dish to share - Everything for this potluck must be vegan. Gluten-Free/Oil-Free/Raw dishes are always welcome but optional. • Please follow our Potluck Rules (http://www.meetup.com/ChicagoVeg/pages/Potluck_Rules) with an exception that only vegan food is acceptable for this potluck. Bag of chips and a spread is not an option. Please be more creative and spend at minimum $10 on your dish. You are welcome to check out Recipes of the meals at our potlucks (http://www.meetup.com/ChicagoVeg/boards/thread/7521957/10/) where people have shared some recipes from our previous potlucks. • Please use the Conversation section on the event page to let others know what you plan to bring. • Please check what other people will bring and specify what dish you plan to bring so all of us won't bring potato salad! • The food should be ready to eat as the room is not available for any electrical devices to be plugged in. • Although we will supply them, please bring your own compostable or washable plates, bowls, cups, silverware, napkins (to be more eco-friendly). There will be a bin for composting as well. • The expectation to have a great time! TIMING: We will meet at noon and will start eat shortly so please don't be late unless you are bringing dessert! ;-) LOCATION: The location is easily accessible by public transportation. You can Google 442 S Grove Ave, Oak Park, IL 60302 to plan your trip. The community room is donated to us for the event by Sugar Beet Coop. If you come earlier please check them out at 812 W. Madison St. (around the corner). PARKING: There is plenty of free street parking, 1 block west of Oak Park Ave, 4 Blocks south of the Green Line, 5 blocks north of the Blue line. Volunteering to make Pro-Vegan Billboard reality and other projects

- PLEASE READ THE MEETING DESCRIPTION BEFORE RSVP - This meeting is a ChicagoVeg planning session for Pro-Vegan Billboard project and to determine events for the next few months. This is NOT a social event; rather, it is a Business Meeting for those who are interested in getting involved to support our community and promote plant-based diet. We welcome anyone to our team who would like to make a difference! During this meeting we will focus on: • Pro-Vegan Billboard in Chicago • Planing events for next few months • Determining the best the type of the events to focus on • Other organizational issue There are a lot to cover at the meeting - Please be on time. The meeting will be approximately from 5 to 7 pm. Please respectfully do not eat during the meeting. However, you can come earlier or stay after the meeting to eat there. Some of us will probably eat after the meeting. Please post in Comments section if any questions/comments or carpooling offers. Vegan Cooking Class: Valentine Lunch, Mexican Style

Let's come to enjoy a sate-of-art vegetarian class offered by the organizers of Veggie Fest (www.veggiefestchicago.com) the Science Of Spirituality. You won't believe what an excellent new facility they have now! COOKING DEMO: 1. Steak Tacos with Salsa Verde 2. Gluten-free Churros with Hazelnut Chocolate Sauce This specific class will be 100% vegan. The cooking class will end with the food tasting and socializing!
