Chicago Premiere of Peaceable Kingdom

Join Tribe of Heart, producers of The Witness, for a FREE screening of their new award-winning film, 'Peaceable Kingdom: The Journey Home', at the 2010 Peace on Earth Film Festival in Chicago. Inspired by the idea that one person's change of heart can change the world, ‘Peaceable Kingdom: The Journey Home’ explores the ethical awakening of several people who grew up in traditional farming culture and have now come to question the basic assumptions of their way of life. The 78-minute documentary features seven remarkable individuals engaged in a courageous struggle of conscience, each trying to re-integrate the parts of themselves that were fragmented by expectations and experiences that went against their deepest natures. The film provides insight into their sometimes amazing connections with the animals under their care, while also making clear the complex web of social, psychological and economic forces that have led them to their conflict. Described by many viewers as "a life-changing experience," Peaceable Kingdom: The Journey Home shatters stereotypical notions of farmers, farm life, and perhaps most surprisingly, farm animals themselves.
The screening of the movie is FREE and on a first come - first served, basis so please try to arrive earlier to make sure that you will be admitted to the event. It means we will not have a true RSVP for this event. For this reason we will not check in people as we normally do for our events but please feel free to find Irma (she will wear her name tag) to say Hi. We still ask to RSVP on our event page just for organizers to have an idea who and how many people are going to be there and also so that you may pool up with other friends. Please use the comments section to offer/request carpool. ******************************************************** Screenings details: Saturday, February 27th at 7:15 PM Claudia Cassidy Theatre at the Chicago Cultural Center 77 E. Randolph St., Chicago, IL 60601 (Note: The film screens as part of a block of films, preceded by two half-hour shorts, so it will begin at approximately 8:15 PM) The screening will be followed by Q&A with filmmakers Jenny Stein and James LaVeck, as well as film subject and former farmer Harold Brown. An informal reception is tentatively scheduled for after the Q&A. Stay tuned for more details. Peace on Earth Film Festival details:

Amazing work! It is a manifestation of committed effort, selfless dedication, and oneness of purpose. The message is very motivating and inspiring that people are starting to rise to a higher level of awareness and transformation, that they are embracing a better way and believing and working together for better alternatives to the old ways of looking at how things are. These kind of work keeps the wheel in motion towards greater transformation. Great work!!!

It was a one-of-a-kind meetup involving an intensively impactful film as part of a Peace-themed (free) film festival, and it displayed the violence in contributing to the killing of animals for our consumption.
Hit me to the core - we kill **55 billion** animals a year - this is a horror show. The film directors/interviewee came to a bar/restaurant to speak afterward to anyone interested and they were just as approachable as anyone could possibly be. A uniquely moving experience in every way.
