First Fridays at MCA

  • Aug 2, 2013 · 6:15 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

To take advantage of a special MEETUP discount rate of $10, gather at the Street level entrance (near the corner of Pearson St. and Mies van der Rohe Way) no later than 6:30 pm. Look for the MEETUP sign/group.  MCA staffer, architecture enthusiast, and two-year+ Chicago YAF member David Tucker will give you a brief overview of current and upcoming exhibitions, including CITY SELF, (http://mcachicago.org/exhibitions/next/all/318), and tell you some great ways for your company to get involved.

(Note: Discount will not apply after 6:30 p.m. Must enter at street level entrance with MEETUP group to take advantage of offer.)

Let's explore the MCA together for First Fridays night! Congregate, disperse, discuss and debate. Meeting point: SE end of terrace (as space allows).

Buy Tickets online:

This month, the theme of the night is selfies! Kick off the evening by posing for a photo by Kelly Kaczynski in her pop-up green screen studio, while listening to Joan of Arc perform Helter Skelter, a site-specific endurance performance on the museum’s staircase. See six local comedians band together to create spontaneous sketches in Jennifer Mills’s interactive performance Knock, Knock! Who’s There? Enjoy a program of YouTube videos curated by Eric Fleischauer, or watch Selina Trepp’s video self-portrait, Thinking about Inheritance. Get outside yourself and join in on Mathew Paul Jinks’s experimental performance reading, Invitation to read from an immigrant’s library, and end the night with DJ sets by queer collective Chances Dances.

Awesome - glad you organized this on your own. First Fridays are super-fun! If more than 15 people plan to attend, I mite be able to arrange a group discount. One of the organizers should call me at[masked]
