Fox River Recreational Paddle

Hi All:

As of now, the trip is still a go. Weather forecasts predict rain for the rest of week, but I'm prepared to paddle even in the wet conditions. If the Fox River reaches flood levels by Friday, Andrew and I will cancel the trip and have Rob issue refunds. I will update the trip status by noon this Friday (6/19).

Andrew and I inspected Rolling Oaks Campground this past weekend and decided  to reserve a different campground due to safety concerns and aesthetics. We are now camping at Mallard Bend Campground, which is 1.5 miles away from Rolling Oaks. This change increases the costs by an additional $10/person, which you can pay when you arrive (check-in begins at 3pm).  Ayers Landing will be our takeout and they charge $5 per canoe/kayak.

When you arrive at Mallard Bend Campground, tell them that you are with Chicagoland Backpackers and they will direct you to the campsite.

Remember:

You are responsible for transporting your canoe/kayak to the Mallard Bend Campgrounds, bringing a PFD, bringing camping gear, and bringing all of your meals (breakfast on Sat and Sun, lunch/snacks on the river Sat and Sun, and dinner at the campsite Fri and Sat).

We will work on the shuttles Fri night/Sat morning.

We will provide firewood on Fri and Sat night if the trip is not cancelled.

If you attend this Meetup, you and your family members waive all claims of liability against the organizers of this trip and the Chicagoland Backpackers Meetup(involvement is at your own risks).

If you need to contact me, send a text to[masked]

Thanks for signing up and I look forward to paddling this weekend (if the weather permits)!

Shawn
