Amersham, Little Missenden and Chesham

  • Jun 16, 2013 · 10:45 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Walk length 11.5 miles/18 km approx. Circular.

A substantial walk exploring the paths, fields and woods from Old Amersham to Little Missenden and Chesham. Amersham has one of the best-preserved high streets of any Chiltern town. Most of its buildings date from the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries, while some date back to the fifteenth century.

The walk, which, despite visiting the towns of Amersham and Chesham, is characterised by open and surprisingly peaceful countryside. After leaving Amersham we will explore the quiet hills around Mop End before descending into the Misbourne valley and the picturesque village of Little Missenden. From here, we continue over the Hyde Heath ridge into the Chess valley and Chesham.

Lunch & Finish

Please brin
g a snack lunch and water for the walk. Our walks usually finish at about 4.30pm and include a 30 min lunch stop, however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace (we have a relaxed pace which includes sightseeing and photography).

Meeting: Meet at 10.45am at Amersham railway station for the walk to start at 11.00am.

Train: The 10.12am train from London Marylebone gets to Amersham for 10.47am.
See: Chiltern Railways

I would encourage you to seek out other members who are driving from London, or who can go as part of a group save on the train.

Car: The car park at Amersham Station should be free on a Sunday, please allow time to park (check parking restrictions).

    Sunday
Mostly cloudy with the risk of some light rain across southern counties. Brighter on the whole elsewhere, but with the odd light shower in places
Weather looks ok cu all tomorrow

I am sorry to miss this. A change to parenting rota now means I have my son this weekend and will enjoy Father day with him. I like how someone on the waiting list gets the opportunity too :)
