Nature Reserves, Medieval Barns and Airport Runways – Short Hike

    Walk length 7 miles/11 km approx. Circular.

    A short afternoon walk from West Drayton to the village of Harmondsworth over an area close to the earmarked new third runway at Heathrow Airport.

    This walk covers a number of interesting features from a short section of the Grand Union Canal, Frays Island and Mabey's Meadow nature reserve and the small village of Harmondsworth with a medieval Grade 1 listed Barn owned by English Heritage and dubbed the 'Cathedral of Middlesex' by Sir John Betjeman (the inside of the barn is not open during all the winter months).


    Meet at Paddington Station at 11.00am to get the 11.38am train getting to West Drayton at 12.00pm. We need time to get tickets/group saves.

    Group save ticket is £9 approx, or you can use a network rail card or oyster, West Drayton is in Zone 6. See Transport for London

    You can drive meet the group at West Drayton station however parking may be limited, please check for any restrictions and leave enough time to park.
