This hike is a chance to visit Poohsticks Bridge a location very much associated with the A.A. Milne story Pooh Bear. The day is also a chance to experience a ride on the Spa Valley Heritage railway steam train.
Features on the day are..
A visit to Poohsticks Bridge where Winnie-the-Pooh played the game of Poohsticks. Pooh Bear was created by A.A. Milne and is the story of a slow-witted but loveable and friendly teddy bear. The story is set in Ashdown forest an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
A ride on the Spa Valley Railway a heritage railway running from Tunbridge Wells West railway station in Tunbridge Wells to High Rocks, Groombridge, and Eridge.
The Forest Way is a linear Country park used for walking, cycling and horse riding. The route is part of a disused railway line and is an important habitat for wildlife along a green corridor along the upper valley of the River Medway. Parts of the High Weald Landscape Trail a route between Horsham, West Sussex & Rye, East Sussex.
We will have final drinks at the Opera House in Tunbridge Wells a magnificent pub converted from an opera house & built in 1904 becoming a cinema in 1931, then a bingo hall & finally a Wetherspoons pub!
