Lane End and Five Chiltern Villages

  • Dec 26, 2012 · 10:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Walk length 9 miles (approx).

A great walk taking in the villages of Lane End, Wheeler End, Cadmore End, Turville, Fingest and Skirmett in the very heart of the Chiltern Hills.

The distant vista of the Cobstone Windmill

The whole countryside around these quaint villages is very scenic and affords lovely views, such as the Cobstone Windmill near Turville (used in the 1968 film Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang).

Lunch & Finish:
Please bring a packed lunch and water for the walk. The walk will finish at about 4.30pm and include a 30 min lunch stop, however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace (we have a relaxed pace which includes sightseeing and photography).

Meeting: Meet at Lane End Village Hall from 10.15am for the walk to start at 10:30am.

Car: Free car parking is available in the village hall car park, or in the village car park opposite the village hall.

Train: There is no railway station near the start of this walk.

Please make a note of the organizers numbers - Leon 07950125826.

RSVP: The organizers monitor non-attendance; we will ban anyone who 'no shows' twice for our events. You are also asked to please update your RSVP at least 24 hours beforehand. Please see our RSVP policy

Updates will be posted; see also BBC Weather
Please see our weather policy

Walking Safety: Walking is a great way to keep fit and generally very safe; however it does contain an element of risk. Before going on any of these walks you need to be reasonably fit and be prepared to be responsible for your own safety. You must wear appropriate clothing such as proper walking boots, warm and wet weather clothing and carry sufficient food and water and with winter light a small torch is also useful. Hi Daniel
I didn already send a thank you e-mail to you saying that there seem to be huge engineering work and strike problems with getting myself to Hampstead tomorrow. Did it arrive or is it in your spam box?
hope to meet you another time!!

Is any driver willing to pick me up from a station accessible from London? Will buy you a drink at the pub :)

Looking forward to a nice, crisp, cold day walking to work off turkey wine and relatives. If the weather stinks, please don't bother talking to me because I will be extremely grumpy!
