I Love My Parks Day

Chittenango Landing will host volunteers at the museum as part of more than 100 cleanup, improvement and beautification events happening statewide on Saturday, May 4. I Love My Park Day is an exciting statewide event to improve and enhance New York’s state parks and historic sites and bring visibility to the entire state park system and its needs. Volunteers from across the state will participate in cleanup, improvement, and beautification events at New York State parks and historic sites. Volunteers will celebrate New York’s state park system by cleaning up park lands and beaches, planting trees and gardens, restoring trails and wildlife habitat, removing invasive species, and working on various site improvement projects. Old Erie Canal Boat Float

All proceeds from the Boat Float support Chittenango Landing's educational and recreational programming and support for the Old Erie Canal State Historic Park. After the success of last year's event, the Old Erie Canal Boat Float is back! Over 500 paddlers participated in the 2018 Boat Float! This year we will also be helping to kick off the new Canalway Challenge! Paddle the scenic and calm waters of the historic Old Erie Canal! Let's fill the Old Erie Canal waterway with colorful kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards! Register at: https://chittenangolanding.org/boatfloat Choose from 4 launch locations depending on your preferred distance. All paddlers end at the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum at 2 pm for the Boat Float Bash with music, games, food trucks, and much more! The Boat Float Bash will be from 10AM-4PM. 8 am: Cedar Bay Launch. Total one way distance to Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum is 9.5 miles 10 am: Manlius Center Launch. Total one way distance to Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum is 7.2 miles Noon: Poolsbrook launch. Total one way distance to Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum is 3.2 miles Noon: Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum launch. This is an out and back launch location. Paddlers should put in at the Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum and travel west for their preferred distance. The Chittenango Creek Aqueduct is .4 miles west of the boat museum. Transportation is not provided back to your car, please coordinate with fellow paddlers or register for the shuttle. A shuttle is available to take paddlers to the launch sites from Chittenango. Please drop your boat off at the launch site of your choosing then drive to the shuttle pickup location. There will be volunteers present at each of the launch sites an hour before the start time to look after your boat while you drive to Chittenango.
