Game night at the homeless shelter

  • James Boccardo Reception Center (HomeFirst)

2011 Little Orchard St, San Jose, CA (map)

    37.303425 -121.870728

  • Meet by the front door ... if you are late, ask the reception to show you to the dining room
  • Come help out at the homeless shelter - more volunteers needed to serve snacks and beverages, play board games, and/or help at sign-in table and give away raffle tickets to the residents. Just show up, we'll do whatever "job" that need to be done. (Save the date ... this event typically happens every 2nd Friday of the month. There is a core group of 4-6 regular volunteers ... need more people )

The event should be done around 8:30pm ... and some people usually go to a nearby fast food restaurant to hang out and fellowship.

Please see the original invitation below.

    Merry Christmas everyone!

This is a special time of year and we want to make sure the residents feel the warmth of Jesus during this season.

I'd like to make the event feel Christmassy.  We've done lights in the past.  Christmas cookies are always good.  Hot chocolate, etc...

Please RSVP if you can join us and if you can help in providing a snack this month (optional). If so, please state what you plan on bringing. We typically have sugary and salty snacks, & sodas/waters.

Since we have moved to the second Friday of the month, we serve more residents than what we are used to.  We did run low on drinks this last time.  Please consider bringing sodas or other drinks.

Think Goodwill or Savers or the dollar store for items to add to the raffle.  Also, if you have time, it is nice to tuck a scripture verse into pockets of bags or clothing items as a reminder that God protects us, pursues us and loves us.  I have some I can send in PDF format so all you have to do is print and cut them out.

These are items especially in need:

    New white socks
    New underwear/t-shirts
    Toiletry items

    Hope to see you there!

p.s. Kids must be at least 18 years old to attend this event due to shelter regulations.
