• Hearing the Voice of God

https://ellel.org/au/events/2019/06/hearing-the-voice-of-god Hearing the Voice of God Our heart is so often "Tell me what you want God and I will do it," but we struggle to hear Him and to know that He loves us. It has always been God's way to lead His people … the cloud by day and the fire by night. (Exodus 13:21) God is wanting to speak to us but He will not compete with other voices for your attention. Satan's strategy is to distract and drown out "the still small voice" of God with the turmoil and busyness of life. Learning to distinguish God's voice is essential in our Christian walk. This two day course will explore the blockages we can have in hearing God's voice, how to overcome them and connect with the heart of Abba Father. • A Very Short Course in Christian Ethics

    Moore Theological College

Event Details Our tagline here at the Centre for Christian Living is “bringing biblical ethics to everyday issues”, and we’ve done by that by addressing a very wide range of “everyday issues” over the past several years. But now we’d like to do explicitly something we’ve been doing implicitly all that time: teaching you how to bring biblical ethics to every issue, whatever it might be. In this Saturday morning mini-course, we’ll be teaching a simple framework for bringing the Bible’s view of reality to how we should live in the midst of reality day by day—whether in our homes, our churches, our workplace or in society. We want to teach you, in other words, how to do “Christian ethics”. “A very short course in Christian ethics” will run from 9:30am–1:00pm on Saturday, May[masked] at Moore College. We’ll provide morning tea, but leave you to enjoy the culinary delights of Newtown yourself for lunch. Speakers: Chase Kuhn teaches theology and philosophy, Christian thought and ministry at Moore College. Tony Payne is the Director of the Centre for Christian Living. • SMBC HOT TOPICS: The Problem with Singleness

    Sydney Missionary & Bible College

THE PROBLEM WITH SINGLENESS with Dani Treweek Why is there a significantly higher proportion of married people in our churches than in our population? Why are singles under-represented (by almost 50%) in churches? They often report feeling under-loved or even invisible in their church families. Dani Treweek draws upon her PhD research to consider how we as Christians might rediscover a faithful, biblical and pastoral understanding of the place and purpose of singleness in Christian life. SMBC Hot Topics is a series of 10 talks held on Wednesday evenings at 7pm(sharp)–9pm. They are open to the public and run from Wednesday 6 February to 15 May (following the College's Semester 1 calendar). • Lost and Found: Exploring the Remedy for Rejection

    Ellel Ministries Australia Ltd

https://ellel.org/au/events/2019/05/lost-and-found-exploring-the-remedy-for-rejection Lost and Found: Exploring the Remedy for Rejection If there is one thing that would really change our sense of well-being it is to know that we are unconditionally loved and accepted. The scriptures tell us that God loves all He has created and that when we accept Jesus as our Saviour we are fully part of God’s family again. So why do we find it so hard to personally accept this truth? Even when we are Christians, why do we sometimes feel as if we are still lost sheep who desperately desire and need to be found and embraced by the Good Shepherd? This Explore course will look at how the first rejection came into the world and how in a Fallen world we can become fixed in our false beliefs about our own acceptability. If we can grasp the truth of who God is and who we really are then our lives will undoubtedly be transformed. • SMBC HOT TOPICS: Religious Freedom in Australia

    Sydney Missionary & Bible College

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IN AUSTRALIA with Neil Foster Freedom of believers to live out our commitment and faith is being threatened in Australian society. The rise of ‘identity politics’ and a lack of ‘viewpoint diversity’ bring challenges to Christians speaking about faith. Neil is Associate Professor in Newcastle University’s Law School. He will outline both biblical and legal frameworks for religious freedom: what Australian law says, the Ruddock Review, and how Christians might usefully understand this. • God's Master Key: Exploring the Power of Forgiveness

    Ellel Ministries Australia Ltd

https://ellel.org/au/events/2019/04/gods-master-key-exploring-the-power-of-forgiveness God's Master Key: Exploring the Power of Forgiveness When Jesus spoke from the Cross, “Father forgive them”, He released to humankind an immensely powerful key for restoration from the bondage of pain from the past. For true freedom we need not only to receive God’s forgiveness for our own sinful actions but we need to extend forgiveness to all those who have hurt us, however difficult this may be. Forgiveness is a Kingdom principle which is pivotal to the healing ministry of Jesus, so in this course we will explore the damage caused when there is unforgiveness and judgement of others, we will investigate the many challenges of applying this key, and there will be opportunity to receive God’s healing for areas of unresolved inner wounding. Without doubt, countless lives have been totally transformed by God as people have lived out the consequences of applying the key of forgiveness. • All the Feels - The Place of Emotions in the Christian Life

    St Andrew's Cathedral

Are Emotions the "Achilles Heel" of humanity, or a good gift of God to be embraced? Can our emotions enslave or controll us? How can our emotions perhaps honour God & serve others? The aim will be to theologically reflect upon who we are as embodied creatures, created in God's image, and destined to be conformed to Christ-likeness. Emotions are not a part of our bodily experience that we need to be freed from. Rather, just like out thinking, they find their perfected expression in Jesus. A free THURSDAY night seminar at St Andrew's Cathedral. 6:45-8:30pm including question time. The seminar will be run by one of the Cathedral's Associate ministers, Steve Frederick. for more infomation either email Steve at [masked] or contact the Cathedral office.
