Greetings Fellow Cosmonauts!
Many thanks to everyone that made it out to help us celebrate our 1-year anniversary on Saturday! Congrats to our trivia winners; Matt and Don, and the unanimous winner of our costume contest; Mark! I'll be posting up some pictures to our Meetup page and our Instagram account later today.
I also wanted to take a moment to remind everyone about our special guest speaker this Wednesday (4/18); Gubernatorial Candidate and a true advocate for the species, Bob Massie!
Dr. Massie is an American activist and author who’s spent the last (4) decades working on issues of global leadership, corporate accountability, social justice, and climate change. He is responsible for the creation or oversight of several organizations over the years, including Ceres, the Global Reporting Initiative, the Investor Network on Climate Risk, and the New Economy Coalition. His early activism centered on opposition to South Africa's apartheid regime, documenting the relationship between the US and South Africa in the apartheid era. He is currently a candidate for the Democratic nomination to be governor of Massachusetts.
The schedule will be as follows:
6:30PM: doors open
7-7:15PM: intros from WtP and CotC
7:15-7:45PM: Massie remarks
7:45-8:15PM: Q&A
8:15-8:30PM: closing remarks
8:30-10:30PM: After Party at Lord Hobo Bar
As a reminder, seating is limited. So get there early unless you don’t mind standing.
Immediately following the event everyone is invited to join us at Lord Hobo Bar (2 blocks from venue) for a few celebratory beverages. Here's a coupon that might be useful if you're planning on getting food that evening. And if you have a Church of the Cosmos T-shirt, this would be a perfect time to wear it.
Also, I am now in possession of an updated version of the presentation given by Dr. Kenneth Pitts during his talk last month (A Brief History of Mind - 3/21/18). You may find the slide deck linked here as well as on the Event Meetup page.
Finally, I will be in NYC this Thurs-Friday (4/19-20), touring Meetup HQ and talking with meetup staff and other organizers from across the country. If you have any questions or concerns that you would like for me to pass along, feel free to send me a private message either through meetup or via email at: [address removed].
Okay, that's all for now. Looking forward to seeing everyone Wednesday!!
Godspeed!
