Synopsis: A French Resistance fighter (François Leterrier) who has been captured by the Nazis and condemned to death painstakingly plans out and executes a daring escape from his Gestapo prison.

Believe it or not, the notoriously austere French director Robert Bresson was actually a master of suspense, and he has the prison break movie to prove it. Officially based on the memoirs of André Devigny, who escaped a Nazi war camp in Lyon in 1943, but drawing heavily from Bresson's own experiences as a prisoner of war during World War II, this is a harrowing and deeply felt dramatization of the universal struggle freedom--possibly the greatest prison break movie of all time (light years ahead of that "Shawshank Redemption" pap).
