HOW THIS WORKS
On the night of the meetup, the organizers will bring a small, diverse, and pre-determined selection of good-bad movies. Then we’ll participate in a simple majority vote, and the two movies that win the most votes will be screened for everyone’s pleasure*.
Please patronize the restaurant by ordering something while you are at the meetup, as they are letting us use their event room for free. It's a full-service restaurant but they provide separate checks.
Thanks and we are looking forward to seeing you all!
* Pleasure not guaranteed. Kedar will bring a bottle of ibuprofen.
If you want to bring a movie:
If you’re interested in contributing to the pre-event movie selection process, read on! Otherwise, you can ignore the rest of this stuff and just show up to the event.
About a week before the event (AKA the “cut-off date”), the organizers will put together and send out a small list of about 4 or 5 movies. We pull these movies from a great big movie pool (link) that is basically a list of every movie we ever want to watch. We try to span our small selection across different genres – action, sci-fi, horror, etc. Now if you would like to be involved in process of choosing movies, here’s what you can do:
Step 1) Please check out our movie pool (link)! If you see anything that you really want to watch, discuss it in the comments below, or on our Facebook page (link). The more buzz around that movie, the more likely we’ll select it.
Step 2) If you want to watch a movie that isn’t already in the movie pool, you can send us a submission! You can do that in the comments below, or on our Facebook page (link). Keep in mind that we are selective when it comes to good-bad movies, and you can read about what we’re specifically looking for on the submissions info page (link). In short, the essential criteria are that the movie must be unintentionally funny and so-bad-it’s-good, and you must have the movie on DVD or VHS. Everything else is optional and good-to-have, but can significantly increase your odds. Lastly, remember that your submission should be sent by the cut-off date, or about a week before the meetup, in order to be considered for this event.
