Chagrin Falls, OH
Just to get you in the proper mood for RUSH next month, here is an amazing tribute video to a World Champion:
Three-time Formula One World Champion Ayrton Senna of Brasil has been gone for 19 years now due to his fatal crash at Imola during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. But Honda -- the engine manufacturer with whom, along with McLaren, Senna scored most of his 41 F1 wins -- recently put him back on-track using lights, telemetry and sound.
Staged at Japan's 3.609-mile Suzuka circuit, site of many memorable Senna vs. Alain Prost moments, Honda engineers used telemetry data to pipe the sound of their 1989 3.5-liter normally aspirated V10 F1 engine through speakers surrounding the track. Lights illuminated simultaneously to illustrate Senna's virtual position on the road, giving fans a chance to reminisce and visualize the Brazilian maestro doing his thing once more.
It’s a wonderful tribute to the best racing driver who ever lived.
Turn on your speakers -- and turn them up. (click here)
