Prom Night in Mississippi
A film by Paul Saltzman

This is a documentary by a Canadian Filmmaker who as a youth in the 1960's volunteered in the American Deep South. Forty years later he returned with is wife to film and record the changes that had occurred since the more than forty years since official segregation had ended. He met actor Morgan Freeman who in 1997 had offered to pay for a high school prom if they would agree to discontinue their practice of holding two separate proms - one black, one white. In 1997, Mr. Freeman's offer was rebuffed. Paul Saltzman enquired to Mr. Freeman if he might pose his offer once again - in 2008. Mr. Freeman did and in 2008, Charleston High School held its first integrated prom. This documentary tells the whole story.

Join us for this hopeful story.
