Local boy-made-good George has performed on many memorable occasions for the Kings Head in the past, from those early days he has since gone on to carve a flourishing career developing his own brand of R+B alternative jazz inspired original material performed with immense energy, buckets of fun and embellished by his natural showmanship. He already has two albums of original
material to his credit ‘Have you met George’ and ‘Curiouser and Curiouser George’ both on the ‘Spider in the Bath’ label which feature his vocals, piano, guitar, ukulele, beatboxing and loops backed by his famous notsobigband – a frighteningly good combo of some of the best side men in the business. The darling of The Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, The Royal Albert Hall, London Jazz Festival, Barbican, Theatre Royal and Caffé Nero, George will be joined on stage by one of the hottest properties on the Bristol scene – Elles Bailey.
Elles has been dubbed ‘The Princess of the Blues’ by her rapidly expanding international following. But she never follows any tide. Unmistakably influenced by the Chicago Blues demigods like Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and Elmore James – she has taken this old musical art form by the throat and injected her infectious personality and performance style into self-penned box fresh new material based on that 50’s/60’s big black blues sound. Elles and her band are currently tearing up the UK and European scene, collecting soaring reviews at every place they play from Bristol to Berlin. She has also spent all of September
working on her soon to be released debut album in Blackbird Studios in
Nashville, Tennessee .
Both George and Elles are masters of working an audience, so that dance floor will be heaving.
The scene of this festive party in the cellar will be set by the Prima Donnas – a 7-piece glamorous ladies choir from the 5-valleys of Stroud led by musical director Yael Hochenberg. They will be performing a selection of material from Eastern
Europe, Africa and Hollywood , with a few seasonal numbers thrown in. Bring
your own mince pies.
Ding, dong merrily – we’ve got just what it takes to get your Christmas celebrations off with a cracker. You definitely won’t want to be anywhere else, so don’t waste any time in getting those tickets trousered.
