Join us for insights on Civic Innovation as it relates to Tech for Good & Digital Social Innovation and to engage with students on what it will take for Civic Tech YYC to establish a Civic User Testing Group in Calgary.

Vivacity ( http://www.vivacityyyc.com/ ) is an inter-institutional collaboration in which students find solutions to challenges to make our city more vibrant.

In January 2021, Vivacity’s fourth cohort of students from Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary was launched, with students exploring civic innovation in our city. In the 2021 Civic Innovation Challenge, students immersed themselves in Digital Social Innovation and Tech for Good as they worked with community partner Civic Tech YYC. In collaboration with many of Alberta’s most innovative and talented leaders from the private, public, and social sectors, students examined how technology can be leveraged to give voice to marginalized and vulnerable people living in our city today. Working in project teams, students explored the ecosystem of potential clients, testers & funders and developed a case for support to establish a Civic User Testing Group in Calgary.

Civic User Testing provides a platform for citizens to offer valuable input into product, process, service, and technology design that is intended for their use. The user testing model combines user experience testing, civic engagement, and digital skills training to citizens for which products and services are under development.
