With the burning of Notre Dame Cathedral, I thought it would be a good time to explore Victor Hugo’s classic. Ostensibly about the titular hunchback and the woman he loves, this is just as much a celebration of the cathedral’s Gothic architecture, which Hugo wrote to persuade certain factions not to tear down the cathedral.
