June is Pride Month, and to commemorate it, we will read Patricia Highsmith’s “The Price of Salt,” later made into the movie “Carol.” Highsmith, best known for the Ripley novels, used aspects of her own life in her story of a shopgirl who falls in love with a glamorous socialite. Keep in mind that after the movie came out, the book was republished under “Carol,” so you find it under that title.
