What is your favorite book and what is your favorite drink?

Favorite book: that's a tough question, since I really like Lewis Carroll, Shakespeare, and a lot of the Russian novelists. If I had to name a favorite, I would probably say Macbeth or A Clockwork Orange. I think Macbeth not only portrays a character's ambition really well, but also raises interesting issues around the inevitability of fate, the irreversibility of the past, and the power of fear to drive someone toward madness. A Clockwork Orange is interesting because it raises interesting questions about the nature of human agency. Depending on where one stands on the existence of free will and on the nature-vs-nurture debate, one can arrive at a very different stance from the one promulgated by the novel--i.e. that maybe it was not such a bad idea to give Alex the anti-violence treatment. So I find it a very interesting story and thought experiment. Favorite drink: Chimay bleue.

I moved here about a year ago to work for startup as a coder. When I'm not in front of the computer screen, I am interested in good literature, art, food, etc. I'm looking for an excuse to make a dent in my collection of books and movies.
