This month's selection is Kindred (1979) by Octavia Butler.

Plot summary (from Amazon): Dana, a modern black woman, is celebrating her twenty-sixth birthday with her new husband when she is snatched abruptly from her home in California and transported to the antebellum South. Rufus, the white son of a plantation owner, is drowning, and Dana has been summoned to save him. Dana is drawn back repeatedly through time to the slave quarters, and each time the stay grows longer, more arduous, and more dangerous until it is uncertain whether or not Dana's life will end, long before it has a chance to begin.

Our location: We meet at Mad River Grille & Pub, a place that serves food and drink. We will try to get the super big table which is directly across from the front door. Mad River is near the Wellington Brown Line stop. Street parking is do-able, but may be a bit difficult.

Future book selection: ideas are welcome. Criteria for books: has a science fiction theme, is 20+ years old, and under 500 pages (for us busy, slower readers).

Please be respectful of the group and your humble organizer by keeping RSVPs up-to-date. No-shows are no fun, so please don't be one, if you can help it. If you have two no-shows, you will be removed from the group.
