Learning about wine can be an expensive, intimidating and often pretentious undertaking. We've all spent a lot of money on some crappy wines recommended by some really pretentious wines snobs because we felt intimidated... Well personally, I’ve discovered that the most fun and effective way to learn about wine is amongst a group of friends, in the comfort of home where everyone brings a bottle to share from a particular region, style or grape, and then “thoughts” are discussed on each of the wines…. In a setting where comments like "I taste grapes" are completely acceptable-lol!
This group is for professional working women mid-twenties to mid-forties who share a passion for wine and socializing, but want an intimidation-free, fun and affordable way to learn more! Whether you’re an expert or novice, this group is for you. As long as you are looking to be social and share a love of food and wine, we would love to have you!
Here’s how it works: Each month, a new host volunteers their place, they select a wine theme that they want to learn more about or just really love! They provide a cap for number of attendees, then select a weekend date and time. Each person who RSVP’s is required to bring a “themed” bottle of wine (typically in the $10-$20 range depending on the theme) along with a small appetizer to share. Remember, the point is to keep it affordable but classy;-) On occasion, other value driven wine events or wine happy hours will be added to the calendar.
***DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS STYLE MEETUP WHERE COMPLETE STRANGERS ARE INVITED INTO PEOPLE'S HOMES, A PERSONAL PROFILE PICTURE IS REQUIRED TO BECOME A MEMBER. SORRY BUT PICTURES OF PETS, OBJECTS OR "OFF IN THE DISTANCE" PHOTOS WON'T BE ACCEPTED.
ALSO, PLEASE NOTE THAT A YES RSVP TO AN EVENT WHERE THE HOST PREPAYS FOR ALL THE WINE IS GROUNDS FOR AUTOMATIC DISMISSAL FROM THE GROUP IF YOU CANCEL DAY OF WITHOUT EMAIL NOTIFICATION AND DON'T OFFER TO PAY FOR YOUR TASTING FEE OR WORSE JUST DON'T SHOW! THIS IS COMMON COURTESY SINCE YOUR RSVP WENT INTO ACCOUNT WHEN BUDGETING FOR THE WINE!!!
New members must be approved by the Organizer
