Talks Night: Open Data for the Environment

This month, we're looking at how open data is being used around the world, with speakers from academia, government and startups giving a series of short (around 15 mins) talks, showing how people are using it to fight climate change.

After some Q & A for the speakers, we'll be continuing the conversation outside the ODI, in The Fox.

Programme:

7:00 - Open sustainability: can opening up knowledge save the planet?
Jack Townsend, University of Southhampton

7:30 - Doing the sustainability math: can open data help us work out 9 billion divided by 1?
Maya Forstater

7:45 - Brief break for refreshments, chatter, mingling, networking

8:00 - Using open data to stimulate energy-efficient behaviour
Seb Junemann & Jamie Young, Homely

8:20 - Two years of open environmental data releases
Tom Chance, Greater London Authority

8:40 Wrap up, and off to the Fox.

    Hi Dorian!

I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that *some* of them did, but not all of them - I totally underestimated how much space these would take when filming them, so we didn't capture Tom's talk, sadly.

    Here's Jack Townsend's talk

On the bright side, we've got a much better recording setup at the new venue on Monday, so I'm expecting to be able to record all the talks this time.

Could only stay for first two talks. Enjoyed event as always but felt talks I saw were a little too introductory.
