What we're about

Welcome to our walking group!

We are a very friendly and social group that encourages general fitness and active living in the Clear Lake area. We offer walks that will interest all levels of walkers from beginners to advanced. We often break bread together so it’s a good thing that we work out first!

Explore and share your favorite areas in the Clear Lake and surrounding areas! If existing walks are not meeting your needs, become an Event Organizer! We are seeking people to be Event Organizers to host one-time or recurring events of different levels and locations. It would be great to have some mommy walks, dog walks, and marathon training walks on the calendar!

If you want to motivate yourself to walk regularly, the best way is to commit to hosting a regular walk. Recurring events can be posted daily, weekly, monthly, or sporadically. You will attract regular walkers to your events and get to know some really great people. Check out our calendar!

The fitness level required will be indicated on each walk by noting the walk rating, terrain, distance, and time plus some walks will allow people to walk at their own pace. Dog and/or stroller friendly walks will be indicated on the walk posting.

Monthly Book Club for Walkers

Dunn Brother's Coffee

Show and Tell Time! Let's discuss the apps and devices that we use to track our walking and our health - Fitbit, RunKeeper, MyFitnessPal, Garmin, MapMyRun, etc. I'm sure we can learn from each other. Be sure to bring your devices to show! We can meet at Dunn Brothers Coffee. Use the comments to suggest a better time, topic, date or place for future meetings.

Seabrook Trails (Bay to Breakfast)

Baybrook Park

Walk the trails to Pine Gully Park and out to the pier on Galveston Bay. We'll then walk the trails back and around what is considered Seabrook's Wildlife Refuge. The trails are pea gravel and the total distance is about 5 miles; although you can shorten it to a 3 mile loop to the pier and back. After the walk we will find a great place to eat breakfast! Some favorites have been Seabrook Classic Cafe, Gabacho's Mexican Grill, Bon Appetit, and El Centinela... but we are always open to new suggestions! This is a dog friendly walk. There are a couple of places water is available, but I'd be prepared with a collapsible bowl or something. Depending on the weather conditions, we sometimes eat breakfast outside in a dog friendly environment. While it is a dog friendly walk... there are times I don't bring my dog, let her stay in the vehicle while we're eating, or drop her off at home before breakfast. My cellphone is[masked]. Please text or call me if you are running late. The following link will show you the planned route: https://runkeeper.com/user/jacobsd8195/route/4846523
